Simulation-mediated care pathway modelling
Simulation-mediated care pathway modelling
Recent innovations in simulation design and technology make it possible to sample, condense and recreate key events in an evolving patient trajectory, attending to the perspectives of patients, healthcare professionals and systems. Such simulations will
combine highly realistic physical simulation with mathematically-based Discrete Event Simulation (DES) to model healthcare pathways and explore alternative solutions. The core will be a single patient's journey from initial presentation to resolution, exploring how different healthcare practices and design options could affect care within Sequential Simulation scenarios. Pathways under investigation include surgery and coronary care.
