ACADEMIC TRAINEES ANNUAL EVENT

The event attended by approximately 50 of our Academic Clinical Fellows, Clinical Lectures and Clinical Research Fellows.

The guest speakers for the event were Dr Duncan Bassett – Reader in Endocrinology at Imperial College London who presentation was titled A career in academic medicine: a personal experience. And Professor David Adams, Chair of the Academy of Medical Sciences Mentoring Advisory Board whose presentation was entitled How to survive a career in academic medicine.
Over 30 abstracts were submitted for the event, those selected to give an oral presentations by the panel were the following:
Academic Clinical Fellow – Dr. Lynne Sykes L_Sykes

Congratulations go to the winners for best oral presentations who were Dr. Lynne Sykes, Dr. David Jackson and Dr. Aminida Roy, each receiving a prize from Professor Pusey.
Poster presentations
Approximately 20 posters abstracts went on display at the event. Two prizes for the best presentation went to Dr Ankur Thapar, abstract entitled Cost-effectiveness of asymptomatic carotid endarterectomy and Dr Marisa Taylor-Clarke, abstract entitled The role of fetal Magnetic Resonance Imaging in High risk monochorionic diamniotic pregnancy.
