Department of Primary Care and Public Health
Undergraduate Education
Director of Undergraduate Education: Dr Paul Booton
The Department is responsible for all general practice teaching conducted as part of the undergraduate medical course.
General Practice and General Practitioners are involved in teaching throughout the six years of the undergraduate medical course. GPs teach in practices, in departmental seminars and more widely throughout the curriculum. GPs are involved in examining undergraduates at a number of stages in the course, particularly at the end of Years 3, 5 and 6.
The Department provides teacher training and refresher courses for current and prospective GP teachers. We are always looking to recruit enthusiastic GPs as teachers.
