**NEW CENTRE FOR TRANSLATIONAL RESEARCH INTO PATIENT SAFETY TO BE CREATED**
We are pleased to announce that we have been awarded over £7.2 million in funding to continue making the NHS a safer place for patients. The funding, which comes from the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), will be used to establish a Centre for Translational Research into Patient Safety. The centre aims to promote improvements in the safety, quality and effectiveness of healthcare services. The funding has been awarded for five years from 1 August 2012, following on from the £4.5m award (2007-2012) for Centre for Patient Safety and Service Quality and is one of only two national centres. Professor Charles Vincent will be Director, current director of CPSSQ, and will lead the new programme with Professor Ara Darzi as clinical director. For more information click here
