Dr Susy Long

Susy trained in medicine at Cambridge University and Imperial College and graduated in 2000. She is now nearing completion of training as a Specialist Registrar in Geriatric and General Internal Medicine in the NW Thames region of the London deanery. She took time out of clinical training from 2007-10 to complete a PhD entitled "Measuring and Improving Safety and Quality of Care in Older Medical Patients" at the Centre for Patient Safety and Service Quality, supervised by Professor Charles Vincent and Dr. Diane Ames. During her PhD, which was awarded in 2011, she developed new retrospective case record review tools to measure the safety and quality of care that frail older people receive in hospital and is currently working on developing these further, with the aim of improving care for this vulnerable group.
