Mr Matthew Tranter
Matthew is currently undertaking an MRes in Biomedical Research (Respiratory and Cardiovascular Science Stream).
Matthew studied Pre-Clinical Medicine at the University of Oxford. After graduating with 1st Class Honours in BA Medical Sciences (Myocardial, Vascular and Respiratory Biology) he took time out of the Medicine degree to complete an MRes/PhD programme. Matthew will return to Clinical Medicine in 2015.
In 2011, Matthew was awarded a National Heart and Lung Institute Foundation 1+3 Studentship, working with Dr Cesare Terracciano and Dr Alexander Lyon. He is investigating the in vivo, ex vivo and in vitro responses of the heart to supraphysiological levels of adrenaline, with the aim to reproduce Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy-like phenomena. His previous project was supervised by Prof. Sian Harding and Dr Alexander Lyon.
