Mentoring
Mentoring has become widely recognised as an additional method of personal and professional career development.
Imperial College increasingly recognises the value and importance of mentoring and it has been a formal requirement for a number of years that all divisions and departments make arrangements for the mentoring of academic staff.
Mentors
All ACFs and CLs will have a named supervisor during their attachment in the host laboratory. In addition all ACFs and CLs should have a mentor. The mentor will be entirely separate from the Fellow's supervisor or Clinical Director, and will be able to provide independent career and personal advice. Each trainee will be allowed to choose a mentor, with assistance from the Specialty Clinical Academic Training Lead. If you have difficulty identifying a mentor and wish to be assigned to an academic mentor at Imperial from a general list please contact the Postgraduate Medicine Administrator.
Academic Clinical Fellows
Each ACF will have a lead postgraduate training manager and course leader, and also a mentor. The Annual Review of Competence Progression (ARCP) Outcomes form for RITAs is available here ARCP
Clinical Lecturers
Each Clinical Lecturer will have a mentor in addition to their specialist training lead.
The Annual Review of Competence Progression (ARCP) Outcomes form for RITAs is available here ARCP
