Flow Cytometry
Announcements
*** We have been revamping our BDFACSAria II and installing BRAND NEW LASERS and the installation of a Biosafety containment cabinet during April/May***
This has been long awaited!
Please note limited sorting services will re-commence by the end of May until we employ a new member of staff.
We have said goodbye to Angela Kwok and wish her well. Her last day was 18th April 2012.
Thurka will be juggling the instruments (sorts and training as normal) until a replacement is hired. So please bear in mind there may be long waiting periods between sorts and training due to the extra work.
2nd May 2012----New Instrument Addition
Announcing the new SONY ICyt -- Eclipse, a 4 laser analyzer fitted with the yellow-green laser, capable of six color simultaneous detection. The instrument will be available to trained users 24/7.
Please do not hesitate to sign up for training! We are planning to have SONY ICyt's application specialist Cathy Simpson onsite and available to give 1-2-1 training sessions on:
- Friday 4th May
- Tuesday 8th May
- Friday 11th May
Please email Thurka: t.poobalasingam@imperial.ac.uk to take advantage of this specialised training opportunity.
Sample Drop-Off Program
Our sample drop-off program, currently only for cytometer work will now be available from July 2012. Please be aware that this program is for acquisition and analysis only with a charge, please contact Thurka. Thank you!
Self Run Training Information
We offer self run training for all of our customers on the Biorad Bioplex 200; Luminex LX100; LSR II, LSRFortessa; CantoII, Eclipse, Cyans and the MSD. Self run users enjoy many benefits including 24/7 access to the facility, lower charge rates, and a better understanding of their experiments.
St. Mary's, Respiratory Infection flow cytometry core facility laboratory, is now an Imperial college core facility for researchers to use.
The facility provides state-of-the-art instrumentation, services, education and consultation for investigators across many disciplines within the Biological, Environmental and Physical Sciences Divisions.
Academic Leads for this core facility are Prof Peter Openshaw, Director of CRI and Dr Fiona Culley.
Flow cytometry is a powerful tool for the multiparameter analysis of cells of all types. Six high powered high speed flow cytometers are available as well as Biorad's Bioplex 200, Luminex LX100, and MSD.
We can help you in designing and analysing your samples whether Flow cytometry, Luminex or MSD experiments plus provide cell sorting on a BDAriaII.
Biosafety Form
All cell samples brought into the laboratory, whether for acquisition & analysis or for sorting must be assessed for pathogenic and GM potential. Thus it is also required to supply a Biosafety form assessment of the cells due for sorting.
Fixed samples can be sorted after the fixative is removed. More information can be found on the link, Biosafety.
