Content and assessment
The first week is an introduction to the College and several transferable skills sessions. Additional transferable skills’ training is available according to individual student requirements.
Students complete three projects of at least 12 weeks each during the year, designed to give practical experience of laboratory research, and chosen to cover a wide range of skills. In addition, students write 3 mini-dissertations on set topics covering all aspects of neuroscience.
Topics and deadlines for the mini-dissertations are set quarterly.
Students will be assessed at the end of each project by written report (4,000–6,000 words), supervisor’s assessment of laboratory skills and an assessment of their oral presentation of the project work (February, May and September). Each project accounts for 25% of the course mark.
Mini-dissertations will be assessed after each rotation and account for the remaining 25% of the course mark.
